So many lamps, what to do! The Hong Kong Lighting fair is packed with buyers and suppliers. After visiting the show today, I’d say it is one of the largest events for lighting in the world. There are over 1,000 suppliers from all over Asia, and even Europe. There seems to be no end in choices, and areas. Basically, you should walk the whole show. I’d estimate that over 70% of the companies attending here are from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Tiawan. And, most of them have manufacturing in China.
From my side, the taste seems very European. Lots of glass and crystal, and modern looks, are 80% of the decorative lighting.
Also, there are TONS of industrial lighting options here, too. Fluorescents and LEDs are easy to find, and the show has even set up a Green section, to promote power saving technologies.
I’d recommend this show for anybody in lighting, it’s the best show in Asia for lighting, and you can at least pick up on product trends. Also, there are lots of GOODfactories here. I noticed quite a few old time factories that have been around a long time, and make good quality product. (You may not notice them, because they are surrounded by so much flashy product!)
My major recommendation for this show, is that it would be nice, if they broke up the halls by product type better. It seems that they sort suppliers by country, and it ends up being a jumble of all types industrial and decorative lighting. Although, there were some cool LED displays I saw today that I would have skipped if not having to walk through everywhere! |
