One key to reducing CO2 is reducing your company’s power consumption.  New LED light bulbs have hit the market and are now selling for $29 at the Home Depot.  The energy debate is over.  LEDs consume so much less power and  last so much longer that they pay for themselves in one year and will save you money over the next year.  They are an obvious choice for retail and commercial buildings, but will even save you money in your office.

Heating and Cooling use about 1/3 to half most businesses and homes power.  Modern Heating and Cooling unites can be as much as 40% more efficient compared to old ones.  The not only save power, but also save money.

Fans can make a room feel 3 degrees cooler.

Another trick in reducing your energy is to save on air conditioning by letting the temperature raise by 10 degrees at night and  get it 5 degrees cooler than average before opening.  And the opposite in winter.  This can help save as much as 10% of your heating and cooling energy.

In the summer consider letting the temperature rise up to 75 degrees F or 24 degrees C.

Put awnings up to block summer sun from heating your space.

Save Trees by buying paper with high recycled content and printing on both sides where possible or try making your office paperless. 

I remember when our office used to spend a lot of money mailing and filing all our orders, whole rooms full of bills, invoices and customs docs.  Now we just scan them in and store them in the computer system.
